Lawyers Against Productivity

Lexter knows lawyers work hard and deserve a break. So we made a game.

Quick overview

1.
Each round, a new player is the Managing Partner (judge). They flip over a blue card.
2.
The other players are Associates, using one of their 5 white cards to make winning combinations.
3.
The Managing Partner picks a favourite combination.
4.
The Associate who made the combination gets a point.

Detailed rules

  1. To start, split the cards into face-down piles based on the back colours - blue and white.
  2. Each player picks up 5 white cards.
  3. Nominate the first ‘judge’, or assign based on whoever billed the most hours that week.
  4. The ‘judge’ picks the top blue card and lays it face up, reading it out loud. The judge should read any blanks as ‘blank’ - for example, “Nothing ruins a firm Christmas Party fast than blank”.
  5. The non-judges each play one white card to combine with the blue card, completing the phrase.
  6. The ‘judge’ then reads the completed combinations in full - “Nothing ruins a firm Christmas party faster than tank top and tie tans…” “Nothing ruins a firm Christmas party faster than legal sugar daddies…” until all combinations are read.
  7. Non-judges are welcome to classlessly plead their cases as to why a certain combination should win.
  8. The ‘judge’ then decides the winning combination, and the non-judge who played that card gets 400 imaginary billable hours, represented by being the only player to take their white card back and be left face-up near them.
  9. Move clockwise to assign a new ‘judge’, and repeat the process until one player has 2000 imaginary billable hours in the form of 5 face-up white cards. They are the winner, and possibly now your boss.
